In this week’s Torah portion, Terumah, God instructs Moses to build a tabernacle so that God may dwell among the people. What a beautiful reminder to all of us that we should build our own sacred place. It inspired me to create this blog. I hope to share simple ways to create meaningful moments (and memories) with your family. Please let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see or share.
This recipe will make a dozen (or a few more…)
2 1/2 cups of sweetened coconut flakes
3 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
4 oz of semisweet chocolate chips
pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Melt chocolate chips ( in a double boiler, or your microwave or in a ziploc bag run under hot water)
Mix ingredients until well combined
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper (this makes for easy cleanup and prevents burning)
Drop batter 1 1/2 tablespoon haystacks onto lined sheets, keeping a little space between
Bake for 15-20 minutes
Best served warm or store in an airtight container
